The best hotels around Australia for food lovers | Top hotel restaurants revealed
Food is a huge part of travel. It’s the easiest (and tastiest) way to understand a culture when you’re in a new place.
Dining on street food in a bustling market or ordering a local dish in a tucked-away trattoria is one of the most joyful aspects of travelling.
And it turns out that it’s a driving factor when choosing where to holiday – one third of Aussies have booked a trip just to visit a restaurant.

New data from OpenTable shows that Aussies are planning with our tastebuds: 72 per cent say they would rebook a hotel for the dining experience alone.
What’s been dubbed the ‘culinary-cation’ is here to stay, and hotels are stepping up their game with the majority of surveyed travellers saying that hotel restaurants have improved a lot in the last few years.

The top destinations for foodie travellers to visit in 2025
Data from travel search engine KAYAK has shown a 64 per cent increase in the use of its “restaurant” hotel filter compared to last year.
It makes sense: when you’ve just arrived in a new city, there’s nothing quicker and easier than dining in the restaurant located directly under your hotel room.
”Travellers aren’t just asking ‘Where should I go?’ – they’re asking ‘What’s on the menu when I get there?'” said Kate Williams, Chief Communications Officer at KAYAK.
“Great dining experiences are an essential part of today’s travel itineraries and hotels are rising to the occasion.”
To help all the foodies out there find their next holiday spot, OpenTable and KAYAK have launched Australia’s culinary-cation guide, celebrating the Top 25 Hotel Restaurants in Australia where the dining is worth booking, even if you’re not staying the night.
