When it comes to satisfying their cravings, no distance is too far and no expense is too great for a foodie. A Texas-based influencer took this obsession to new heights by flying to New York City just to try the basic menu. Leo Skepi, who boasts around 1.2 million followers on Instagram, documented his whirlwind round-trip adventure to sample Lenwich’s much-talked-about Caesar Wrap.
“If I flew to New York tomorrow for a sandwich, how f–king stupid is that?” he asked his followers in a video that quickly went viral. The influencer mentioned that the idea for the trip came from his sister, who informed him about a simple yet popular wrap.
Priced at $13.99 (Rs 1223), the wrap is a simple but popular combo of grilled chicken breast, parmesan cheese, romaine lettuce, croutons and Caesar dressing. The influencer travelled with his sister and cousin from Dallas to NYC to try the sandwich and then returned home on the same day.
“There’s one that lands at noon and another flight that leaves New York at 5 pm, so we’d have enough time to leave the airport, get the little chicken salad wrap, whatever the f–k, get a bunch of them and then get back on the plane and go home,” he said. “Everyone get your permission slip! That’s an adult field trip, but I’m telling myself that it’s for my sister. I’m going to do it for her.”
Donning an all-black ensemble to “look cute for my sandwich,” he embarked on an adventure from Dallas to the trendy Flatiron District branch of Lenwich. Upon arrival, he indulged in a variety of items, sampling an array of mouth-watering menu items, including the Caesar Wrap in both classic and picante versions, a savoury chimichurri sandwich, a crispy box of fries and two Lenwich heroes, packed with pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Thousand Island dressing.
The content creator packed four additional sandwiches in his duffel bag for the return trip and ate one as soon as he arrived in Texas. The total cost of the trip, including flights, food and transportation, is estimated to be over $1,000. The videos of his trip drew mixed reactions online, with some finding it entertaining and others criticizing the choice of deli.
A user commented, “Best adult field trip I’m inspired,” while another added, “I enjoyed watching this journey. May we all learn to take day trips like you.” “Lenwich aint all that. My deli around the corner is better and cheaper,” quipped a third. “Lenwich”???!!!! There are way better sandwich places in NYC!” another wrote.
