INTERVIEW: Mark Robins on busy schedule, player fitness and Stoke trip – News

City boss Mark Robins is focusing on his side and what they can do when they travel to the bet365 Stadium this weekend.
The Sky Blues take on the Potters in Championship action, backed by another sell-out away following.
Robins and his side head into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw away at Plymouth Argyle in midweek and the manager is looking to build on that result this weekend.
Focusing on us this weekend…
“It’s about us, it’s not about them, we can’t affect what any other team does, we have to make sure we do as well as we can in terms of recovery to make sure that we’re ready to go again.
“We always take a brilliant travelling support, and we want to do the best for them.
“It’s that understanding of what it’s like in a Championship season in periods like this when you’re trying to be successful.”
Scoring goals and trying to keep clean sheets…
“We’ve not kept a clean sheet for a while and it’s something we’re looking to try and do.
“We have goal scorers now who are contributing across the group so that is always a positive and hopefully that can continue.
“We have people with good feet and are hitting the target and have confidence knowing that they can score goals.”
Time to work on the training ground…
“We make some strange decisions, but it all comes down to the work you can do between the games.
“We want to be able to do some corrective and development work and look at that but we’re not able to get on there.
“It’s all about recovery between games and you have things that don’t go as well as normal and you’re used to a certain way of someone playing and collectively as a team but then one of the components starts to have mental or physical fatigue, it happens, and you have to rectify that and try and work someone into another position.
“Then on the flipside of it, you try and shoehorn someone in and hope they’re going to have a real good game but it’s an anomaly when you put someone in without doing the work or being able to do the work to come in and hit a performance level.
“Performance sin general have been good from the majority, and we need to continue that, but it’s those bumps in the road you need to make as smooth as possible.”
Victor Torp’s start to life at Coventry…
“He’s come in and you want them to settle in quickly and he’s managed to do that.
“He has contributed in terms of his goal on his debut and his contribution the other night with some of his passing but again we have to bet able to get that level from everyone consistently.
“He’s done pretty well, and we’re really pleased for him.”
Callum O’Hare update…
“I will look at Callum in training and we will see how he is.”
Jamie Allen update…
“Jamie is good. He has had his surgery, and he is recovering at home, and he will be back in in the next week or ten days or so to resume and start his rehabilitation.”
