At the Business Travel Show America, a significant 75% of attendees confirmed their use of AI in operations, as revealed by Chris Davis, managing editor for The BTN Group. This statistic, while indicative of progress, does not necessarily equate to successful outcomes, as noted by Keesup Choe, founder and CEO of PredictX.

Challenges in AI Implementation

Despite widespread adoption, many corporate AI initiatives face hurdles. Choe referenced a study by MIT, which found that 95% of corporate AI projects fail. The panel emphasized that achieving success with AI requires more than just adoption; it demands organizational commitment and strategic planning. Choe stressed that buy-in from top management is essential, as AI is not merely a tool but a skillset that necessitates continuous learning and exploration.

Strategic Use of AI

Panelists highlighted the importance of strategic application of AI to benefit businesses, travelers, and employees. Andres Fabris, co-founder and CEO of Traxo, pointed out that AI’s impact varies across different use cases and cannot be generalized. He suggested examining AI’s influence on various stakeholders, including travelers, corporations, buyers, and suppliers, to understand its diverse effects.

Fabris elaborated on AI’s varied impact, noting that its influence on travelers includes improved trip insights and productivity gains, primarily through chatbots. However, he cautioned against limiting AI’s potential to just chatbot applications, advocating for a broader exploration of AI capabilities.

Future-Oriented AI Development

Jennifer Steinke, director of travel, meetings, and fleet for Moderna, emphasized the importance of forward-thinking in AI development. She is currently developing an AI assistant named TAMI, designed to cater to future travelers who will not accept the current status quo. This approach underscores the need for companies to continuously innovate and adapt their AI strategies to meet evolving demands.

To achieve success with AI, companies must strategize effectively, as advised by Choe. He emphasized the importance of having a clear vision and understanding how AI can support strategic objectives.
