Travel TikToker slammed for ‘complaining about food’ while locked down in Jamaica resort during Hurricane Melissa

A TIKTOKER trapped in Jamaica has responded after hundreds of people blamed her for going on holiday during Hurricane Melissa and complaining about the food.
Healthcare worker Jourdain has been documenting her doomed trip to the luxury Sandals resort on the South Coast as the Category 5 hurricane rips through the region.
In a series of TikToks from her hotel room, Jourdain, who goes by @travelwithjourdain, details how she arrived on Friday well aware of the dangerous weather approaching.
She was with her husband when the record-breaking storm struck the west coast of the Caribbean island at around 1pm ET on Tuesday.
Terrifying footage from the past 24 hours shows huge torrents water swamping the streets as the monster storm tears through the island.
Due to the severity of the hurricane, feared to be going at 185mph at its peak, Jourdain and her partner had to have a meeting with the resort on Saturday.

They were told they would have to stay in their room from Sunday night through to at least Tuesday when the storm passed through the island.
All the guests were also moved into a new building which was best equipped to deal with the weather.
Another key change was how the food was served to guests.
In a TikTok, which has over 220,000 views, Jourdain says she was asked the day before to fill out a form saying what she wanted for breakfast.
Jourdain showed off her hefty portion which included sausages, potatoes, bacon and eggs.
She was also given an assortment of tasty sweet treats which she described as being “insane” for the huge amount she was given.
There was also a box of fruit and a salad.
But the small box of salad caused uproar among TikTok viewers as Jourdain pointed out it had no dressing on it.
Many viewed the comment as an unnecessary complaint given the situation.
Jourdain has since turned off the comments on the video.
She later came out to say she was very appreciative of the food and the service provided.
Jourdain went on to applaud the workers at Sandals for their work during the hurricane with many of the staff having family living on the battered island.
But some TikTok users were quick to slam Jourdain and her partner for risking their lives on the holiday in the first place.
Many said she should have cancelled or rebooked the trip knowing full well the horrendous storm was heading towards the island.
Jamaica had been bracing for the hurricane – widely regarded as one of the biggest in years – for days before it made landfall.
Jourdain addressed the complaints in a video on Tuesday.
She said at the time of the couple leaving their home in the US, the hurricane path was still unknown.
It was initially supposed to head towards Kingston before it shifted to the South Coast in recent days, she explained.
Jourdain said: “Was it the smartest thing for us to do to come here? Probably not.
“But that is something that we chose to do, this was not something that I could just cancel my trip and then just do in a couple more weeks because we both work in healthcare.
“We both have our schedules until January at this point, so trying to rearrange another week vacation was just not in the works.”
She also explained that they did enquire about moving the trip out of fear of the hurricane.
Jourdain claimed that in the week before she left for Jamaica she had called Sandals.
They told her she would have to pay a fee to cancel because there was no imminent danger that the hurricane would disrupt their holiday.
It would have cost $400 to move the trip as well as covering the costs of the flights, Jourdain claimed.
“I understand that it frustrates people and I understand that people are trying to make sense of it, but this is what we did,” Jourdain added.
They also had no choice but to stay at the resort as the country’s airports had all closed down after they landed.
Kingston Airport closed on Saturday night as Montego Bay Airport closed midday on Sunday.

Jourdain said: “By 7 am, when we were looking at flights, there was nothing to take us home.
